Sheryl Crow Gets Out the Vote

Los Angeles (E! Online) - All she wants to do is have some fun...and promote civics.

Sheryl Crow is launching an online voter registration drive, giving away a free download of her new, politically charged tune, "Gasoline," to anyone who joins Rock the Vote's mailing list.

As an added incentive, the first 50,000 people who recruit three friends to register will also receive a digital copy of Crow's most recent album, Detours.

"I have been involved with Rock the Vote since its inception and proud of the work they have done. There are such critical issues facing our country, from high gas prices to climate change, that we need to do more than just register to vote, we need to get our friends registered too," said the 46-year-old Crow in a statement.

Founded in 1990, Rock the Vote is a nonprofit political advocacy group whose goal is to get more young people involved in the political process. It came to national prominence thanks to support and exposure from MTV and PSAs featuring the likes of Madonna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jake Gyllenhaal and Christina Aguilera.

Netizens wanting to get their hands on the free Crow track can log on to www.rockthevote.com/sherylwantsyoutovote.
